The Beta gave good stopping power, and ran quietly, despite only a limited amount of sound-proofing. This is probably due to the heavy woodwork round the engineroom, and the good fit of the access panels.

Steering was good, with the hull tracking a straight course with a light helm, and turning easily, even without the bow-thruster.

We found the boat was tender, heeling as people moved from side to side, but Fernwood said that they had more ballast to install especially at the bow, which should reduce this. The problem is possibly compounded by the large generator mounted high up, raising the boat's centre of gravity.
