Huff 'n' Puff's engine is the ubiquitous Beta Greenline 43 with a PRM150 hydraulic gearbox and Noble electric bow thruster - a sound and conventional package that serves the craft well.

Domestic heating and hot water is supplied from an 11 gallon calorifier tucked into the rear corner of the tidy and well organised engine compartment. This is heated from the engine, immersion of Eberspacher D10 diesel heater.

The boat is, as we have said earlier, first and foremost a live-aboard boat - and one that spends it's time on an off-line mooring rather than attached to any umbilical electric cords at a marina.

It is also power hungry, with fridge, freezer, washing/drier, dishwasher and vacuum cleaner all needing to be fed. So getting the electrics right was a key part of the design and build.

Fernwood's aim in all their boats is to duplicate and triplicate systems and also to make them as  user friendly as possible, demanding the minimum of owner intervention in routine usage.

Huff 'n; Puff's core domestic power supply is 240v which can be fed from three alternative sources: via landline, a 1.5kw inverter/charger or a free standing 7kw Onan marine diesel generator.
